ABOUT ME

I consider myself to be a physicist in the making. Born into a Bengali family in a place called Cooch Behar in India, I did most of my schooling in the north-eastern state of Assam in a small yet historic town named Dhubri. While I started off with the quintessential career of choice for mathematics enthusiasts during those days, namely engineering, I quickly realized that I was more interested in physics and somewhat good at it. Thanks to the push from my friends at IIEST Shibpur (then BESU, Shibpur), I switched to a career of research in physics at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal in 2010. After 5 yrs of training, I earned a Bachelor of Science-Master of Science (BS-MS) Dual Degree in Physics and was subsequently accepted into the Fall 2015 PhD program in Physics at Stony Brook University, New York, USA. My doctoral research was conducted in the Physics Department at Brookhaven National Laboratory under the supervision of Raju Venugopalan. I completed my PhD in August 2020 after 5 yrs and will be heading to the Max Planck Institute for Physics, Munich, Germany for my postdoctoral research. I am married to Abha Rajan who is also a physicist in nuclear theory and is currently a postdoc at Old Dominion University, Virginia.

Professionally speaking, my research concerns the high energy regime of the accepted theory of fundamental strong interactions in nature, namely Quantum Chromodynamics. I love watching good movies and TV series and listening to songs from the golden era of Hindi and Bengali music (I sing only for the special people in my life). I recently got into reading Bengali literature and am totally loving it. I love to travel and wish that one day I would see all the interesting places I dream to visit.
